The Otto
calendars 2006-2008
In December of
2005 Otto had been with me for only two months yet I'd taken enough
pictures of him to fill a scrapbook. Yes, I was enamored with him;
so was his other guardian Jeff and everybody who met
him. But
the
real reason for all the photos
is (besides my interest in photography)
Otto's so damned phototogenic! It was as if
he was born to strut down the canine runway.
I'd once seen a
CD-case sized monthly calendar at a national park and I
decided to make one of Otto's "baby pics." It was supposed to be a
one-time-only project. But by the end of 2006, having handed
out
dozens of them to friends, friends of friends, family of
friends, coworkers of
friends, etc., it was clear if I didn't make another one I was
in
deep trouble - liver transplant or no transplant.
Thus the
2007 edition. By late 2007 I realized this'll be an annual
project until either Otto
stops mugging for the camera or I expire, so in December I began
working on the 2008 edition early but my various hospital trips
delayed publication until
mid-January. The howls this
delay caused came from his human fans,
not Otto.
